INDIAN LAND - A consulting firm is the latest company to move into the former HSBC headquarters building in the Panhandle. Titanium Holdings Inc. is moving its headquarters to Indian Land to accommodate what officials call explosive growth and a strategic expansion to meet industry demand.

Titanium Holdings Inc. is the parent company of Titanium Solutions Inc., a leading provider of homeowner contacting and consulting services.

Titanium Holdings will occupy 42,000 square feet in the office tower of the Edgewater Corporate Center. Over the next five years, the company plans to bring up to 300 new jobs to the area to support all of its divisions.

The company works with many of the nation's largest mortgage service companies, primary mortgage insurers, government agencies and counseling agencies to facilitate communication with homeowners facing foreclosure before it is too late, according to the company's Web site, www.titaniuminc.com.

"(Indian Land) is an attractive area for both businesses and families, so we are excited to partner with the S.C. Department of Commerce in order to bring Titanium Holdings to the area," said Tamara Buie, senior vice president of human resources at Titanium Holdings. "The close proximity to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport and the experienced workforce that the (Indian Land) and Charlotte areas offer were key reasons for the selection of the new location."

Titanium Solutions and Titanium Holdings CEO Patrick Carey said the company provides a valuable service by doing in-person home retention counseling.

The new location will allow the company to continue supporting clients and partners, and expand services and product offerings.

"The ability to be located in South Carolina, with access to the diverse, skilled workforce was a driving factor that significantly influenced our decision," Carey said. "The new employees will allow us to rapidly address other areas of need within the industry. As we continue our strategy of prudent growth, we look forward to being an important partner in the community."

Lancaster County Council Chairman Rudy Carter said he's excited about Titanium Holdings announcement and what it means for the county.

"The investment and creation of 300 good-paying jobs is welcome in this period of economic downturn and continues our success in attracting good-paying jobs in the customer service, call center and back-office markets," Carter said. We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with the company.

Titanium Holdings joins URS Nuclear Center in the former HSBC Mortgage Services building in the Edgewater Corporate Center, located near the intersection of U.S. 521 and S.C. 160.

Due to the downturn in the subprime mortgage lending market, HSBC moved out of the building in 2007.

URS occupies the third and fourth floors of the four-story building.

Titanium Holdings will make its home on the second floor.

The first floor of the building is vacant.

President Keith Tunnell said Titanium Holdings officials will meet with staff at the Lancaster Employment Security Commission next week to discuss advertising, screening and the hiring process through the local employment office.

They are committed to hiring Lancaster County residents, Tunnell said. Those interested need to have their resumes on file with Lancaster OneStop and go by that office to register and make certain they click on call center/customer service as a field they are interested in.

For details about submitting a resume, call the local S.C. Employment Security Commission office at 285-6966 or go by the office at 705 N. White St.
